Juniors

Edinburgh Cricket Club has a vibrant juniors program that offers cricket for kids of all ages and abilities. We aim to create an enjoyable and safe environment for juniors to learn and play cricket under the guidance of accredited coaches and senior players. The Club emphasises fun and inclusion at all levels of junior cricket.

For information on our Woolworths Cricket Blast program for kids aged 5-10 visit our Woolworths Cricket Blast page.

Once kids complete the Woolworths Cricket Blast program they graduate to organised cricket and join the U10's.

Last season, Edinburgh fielded teams in the Eastern Cricket Association at all competition age groups – U10s, U12s, U14s, U16s and 18s for boys, and from U13 to U17s for girls.

Cricket for girls

Edinburgh has a proud history of women’s cricket and offers opportunities for girls of all ages and abilities. We provide female coaches at all levels, and a supportive, inclusive club environment to play cricket and have fun.

There are opportunities for girls at all levels:

  • A girls zone at the Woolworths Cricket Blast program on Saturday mornings, 9:30-11:00am, for kids aged 4-10.
  • Girls teams for kids aged 12-17. The makeup of the teams will be determined closer to the season, based on age distribution.

Junior Selection and Inclusion Policy

The Junior Selection and Inclusion Policy covers how players are allocated into teams and is designed to ensure all players given the opportunity to participate with both bat and ball.

Coaching and Team Management

Edinburgh has an accredited coach for each team. These coaches are senior players or parents who have volunteered to coach and who have undertaken, or are undertaking, the Level 1 coaching certification via Cricket Victoria or who have equivalent certification. Some have a Level 2 accreditation or its equivalent.

Each team also needs a parent to act as team manager who is responsible for the administrative details of the team (rostering parents’ tasks, e.g. scoring, food, etc), making sure that everyone knows where to go for the match and entering the scores online after each day’s play. No cricket knowledge is required for this job. Each team must have a team manager in place before the season starts. The team manager is not a very time consuming job and the Club provides ample support. Parents are expected to take part in the roster of duties organised by the team manager.
