Playing
Edinburgh welcomes players of all ages and abilities. If you would like to play with the Burra, please come along to training or email edinburghcricketclub@gmail.com
Our teams play on a variety of grounds, including the historic Brunswick Street Oval, over the hill on the picturesque Alfred Crescent Oval, or McCutcheon Oval or Cox Oval, at Yarra Bend.
Most senior men's teams, except the 7th XI and veterans sides, play on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 12:30pm and finishing around 6:00pm. The 7th XI veterans play on Sundays.
There is no minimum age restrictions for senior cricketers at Edinburgh, however, to ensure the safety and welfare of our young players, only juniors who display sufficient skills and ability are allowed to play seniors. We have several teams which provide juniors an opportunity to improve their skills in senior cricket and progress up the grades as they develop. All juniors bowlers are also bound by over restrictions to protect them from injury. Some of our senior women also play in the men's teams, as appropriate.
There are no maximum age restrictions either but veterans must be over the age of 40.
Training Times and Selection
Edinburgh Cricket Club trains at the Brunswick Street Oval nets on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout cricket season, October through March.
Training runs from 6pm-7.30pm. Selection of teams is made after training on the Thursday before each match. The senior men's selection policy is available here.
